Peter Frost, the author of this article and formerly the Edgar F. Kaiser Professor of Organizational Behaviour at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business, died in October, 2004. This article was originally published in the January/February 2004 Ivey Business Journal. It is based on his book, Toxic Emotions at Work (Harvard Business School Press, 2003), for which he received the Academy of Management's George R. Terry Award.
